May Goals Recap

To recap where I ended up with my May goals....

Family

  1. One date night per week with DH  - You bet!
  2. Find a YMCA class to do with Phoebe - Took a yoga class on June 2nd (tonight!).  Believe we will do this every Monday.  Good class!
  3. Plan the boys' birthday part - May 29th they will be 5! -  Done.  Just family on their birthday.  Next year will be a big Kindergarten class mate party!
  4. Try to be more patient with the kids, especially Phoebe (love her - teenagers are trying) - Work in progress some days are better than others. I think I'm getting my patience back after being stressed with school.
Home/Garden
  1. Mulch front planting beds
  2. Replace burning bush that died
  3. Plant vegetables in garden - tomatoes, zucchini, cucumbers, peas, radishes, what else do we want?
Work
  1. Submit for approval for two job requisitions - Full time employee staffing done for now.  Moving on to needing project pool contractors.
  2. Develop strategy/vision for team this year. - Still working on this.  There's a lot I don't know about the IT way of doing things at our company that is different from the business.  This will become a lot clearer this month.
School
  1. Finish 1 remaining paper for Systems Thinking
  2. Walk at graduation May 17th - relax!!!
Health and Fitness
  1. Cardio 4-5x per week - Only the last week of May did I reach this goal.  I made baby steps throughout the month to settle on cardio in the morning.
  2. Try 4 new healthy recipes this month (one per week) - I didn't really end up tracking this.  I made a bunch of new salad dressings.
  3. Menu plans for week - getting better at this.
Personal - Obviously I need a lot of work in this section!
  1. Post on blog daily
  2. Catch up on reading other blogs
  3. Have iPad screen fixed
  4. Schedule Tom and I for eye doctor appointment
  5. Schedule Tom and I to go to Costa Rica
  6. Decide other vacation plans
Financial - Will be working more in this area in June as well.
  1. Update the new annual budget file
  2. Take some $ out of reserve to pay down one bill

That sounds like an unbelievably productive month! I find it so hard to get all of the little stuff done.

Happy birthday to the boys! I can't believe they are 5 already.
Great month, Heather. And don't gloss over GRADUATION!!!!!!

I did our budgets last night. Funny how it always settles me knowing exactly what's what :)

Bouncing Back From Depression

I've been pretty depressed lately. Monday I hit my all time low, which coincidentally was also my dad's birthday. Needless to say I'm sure I'm on his not favorite child list as I forgot to call him I was so depressed. This whole two mortgage thing with no contract in site is really frustrating. Especially when lots of other houses on our block are selling. Our house is really very lovely, just no pool. It has a really flat backyard perfect for putting a pool in though. Anyway, on Monday, Mom called to make sure I didn't forget to call Dad and tell me she read my blog over the weekend and sent me an email about it. Sorry, Mom, I still have yet to check my emails to see what you had to say. Mom told me I needed to bury a statue of St. Joseph in the yard to get it to sell quicker. Wish I knew that sooner. I was going to wait for her to mail me hers, but yesterday I got really mad at myself and wanted to do something to improve my situation, so I found the nea...

Bad Dreams Go Away Magic Spell

Wow! Two posts in one day!!! I just had to blog about this. Indigo Girl had posted about her daughter having bad dreams and looking for advice. I had to post what we do in our house to keep away bad dreams. I have to admit it was one of my most brilliant mommy moments as I pulled this one out of my a$$ when I came up with it. When Phoebe was about 3 or 4 years old, she started complaining about nightmares. I knew it was half true and half stalling for bedtime. She has always been very into witches, wizards and spells (heck she was named after the character on Charmed and my due date was Halloween), so I came up with a magic spell on the spot to keep away bad dreams. I figured all it had to do was rhyme. I will share it with you all and feel free to try it if you need it: Bad dreams, bad dreams go away In Phoebe's dreams she must play She should dream of ice cream and cake Until the morning when she wakes She loves it! She still asks for it sometimes if she's had a ni...

The Boys Are Here!!!

I'm trying to post this from the hospital Internet access, but I will be able to do this announcement better justice from home, but it is a very odd, but short birth story. They came so fast and furious there was nothing anyone could do. But the boys are in the NICU and doing well. They were born at 31 weeks 5 days gestation on 5/29/2009. I will post their names and information (no comments on names unless you like them, LOL): Baby A: Thomas Michael III born at 2:09 AM Weight - 3 lbs, 15 1/2 oz Length - 18 inches Baby B: Liam Jonathan born at 2:20 AM Weight - 4 lbs, 1.4 oz Length - 17 1/4 inches long Just a word on their health, Thomas's breathing is doing well and he did not need any help in that area so far. I had two steroid shots from when I was admitted until before they were born, so I think that helped. Liam was intubated and given surfactant when he arrived in the NICU and is now on CPAP, although he can't stand having the tubes in his nose. Both are under t...
