Still Getting Back on Track

So I'm still working on getting things done and keeping my motivation up. Last night I had to do the bills, which I was a little behind on, but not late on anything. As my daughter likes to say when I say we're running late for an appointment, "Oh Mom, that just means we're right on time." She knows I like to be early for things, so it's funny to see that she notices that. I'm going to keep trying with my Flylady routines, especially trying to get rid of perfectionism. I think that's why I get down on myself sometimes is because I expect that I can do more than I am, which I know is because of perfectionism. Not that I want to be perfect. I tell myself I don't want to be and work so hard to "go with the flow" more than I used to and it's working great. But every once in awhile I get mad with myself because I wish I could have the energy to workout more, be not behind on balancing the checkbook, my house was cleaner, etc. But I know reality. I'm a work out of the home mom to three: two crazy toddlers and one hormonal-ridden 10-year-old daughter who's handling puberty awesomely.

So I'm psyched that the checkbook is balanced again, I cleaned the Braille writing on the refrigerator handles (It's a joke we have in our house of how dirty those get), and all the clothes are currently put away and not in baskets. I'm doing some interviews for contractors at work today and tonight I will be planting more herbs, putting together a menu plan, working out, doing my weekly home blessing at home and downloading some pics from our Mother's Day outing at Point to Point, which is a fancy steeplechase race held once a year near us in Delaware.

BTW, I'm not affiliated with them in any way, but one of the ways I stay motivated is my listening to the podcasts for MorningCoach while I'm driving to and from work every day. Their free Monday podcast is on iTunes and that's all I get right now. I'm still working on their historical podcasts. Maybe someday I will sign up for a membership.

Heather, do you know how freaky this is? I was also doing budgets last night. We always seem to do them on the same day.

I still can't make mine balance but I'm going to make an executive decision and "take it" from our savings account as "overspending" - when I find what happened, I can always fix it but for now I'm letting go of my perfectionism :)

Confession! I don't balance our checkbook-ever!

I love being a rebel!

It wasn't worth the additional stress. It's my way of escaping perfectionism. I keep a general tally going in my head, and check it often, but I don't balance anymore. I consider it a way to focus on real life a little more.

Glad you're getting back on track though! There's nothing better than coming home to a clean house.

Bouncing Back From Depression

I've been pretty depressed lately. Monday I hit my all time low, which coincidentally was also my dad's birthday. Needless to say I'm sure I'm on his not favorite child list as I forgot to call him I was so depressed. This whole two mortgage thing with no contract in site is really frustrating. Especially when lots of other houses on our block are selling. Our house is really very lovely, just no pool. It has a really flat backyard perfect for putting a pool in though. Anyway, on Monday, Mom called to make sure I didn't forget to call Dad and tell me she read my blog over the weekend and sent me an email about it. Sorry, Mom, I still have yet to check my emails to see what you had to say. Mom told me I needed to bury a statue of St. Joseph in the yard to get it to sell quicker. Wish I knew that sooner. I was going to wait for her to mail me hers, but yesterday I got really mad at myself and wanted to do something to improve my situation, so I found the nea

Bad Dreams Go Away Magic Spell

Wow! Two posts in one day!!! I just had to blog about this. Indigo Girl had posted about her daughter having bad dreams and looking for advice. I had to post what we do in our house to keep away bad dreams. I have to admit it was one of my most brilliant mommy moments as I pulled this one out of my a$$ when I came up with it. When Phoebe was about 3 or 4 years old, she started complaining about nightmares. I knew it was half true and half stalling for bedtime. She has always been very into witches, wizards and spells (heck she was named after the character on Charmed and my due date was Halloween), so I came up with a magic spell on the spot to keep away bad dreams. I figured all it had to do was rhyme. I will share it with you all and feel free to try it if you need it: Bad dreams, bad dreams go away In Phoebe's dreams she must play She should dream of ice cream and cake Until the morning when she wakes She loves it! She still asks for it sometimes if she's had a ni

The Boys Are Here!!!

I'm trying to post this from the hospital Internet access, but I will be able to do this announcement better justice from home, but it is a very odd, but short birth story. They came so fast and furious there was nothing anyone could do. But the boys are in the NICU and doing well. They were born at 31 weeks 5 days gestation on 5/29/2009. I will post their names and information (no comments on names unless you like them, LOL): Baby A: Thomas Michael III born at 2:09 AM Weight - 3 lbs, 15 1/2 oz Length - 18 inches Baby B: Liam Jonathan born at 2:20 AM Weight - 4 lbs, 1.4 oz Length - 17 1/4 inches long Just a word on their health, Thomas's breathing is doing well and he did not need any help in that area so far. I had two steroid shots from when I was admitted until before they were born, so I think that helped. Liam was intubated and given surfactant when he arrived in the NICU and is now on CPAP, although he can't stand having the tubes in his nose. Both are under t
