Very Busy - Gearing Up For Vacation!!!

We've been very busy around these parts lately. In a really really good way. Work is keeping me busy as I have 4 mid-year reviews to finish writing (I finished them staying at work late tonight! Go me!), several hot projects at work going live before the end of the month and a committee to improve employee satisfaction with some deliverables needed from me over the past few weeks and will continue until the end of this week.

But the great part of all this is that next week, we are taking a whole week family vacation to the Outer Banks of North Carolina. I am so so so happy!!! We have not had a week off for a family vacation in about 5 years. We've had long weekends and we did have that great business trip my DH had to Disney that we tacked on three days mid-week for us and our daughter, but it's never been a whole week of us devoted to relaxing, spending time together and chilling out as a family. I CAN'T WAIT!

There is lots to do in the evening then to gear up for vacation. Packing lists to make, planning to do, ensuring the laundry is done, house is roughly clean for when we come back the following week and want to crash, a few things to buy (we're considering buying the forward-facing car seats before we go. Tommy's head is touching the top of the current infant carrier) and figuring out how we are going to fit 3 adults, 1 child the size of a small adult and 2 babies in our SUV with all our stuff. Good times, indeed.

DH and I were already talking this morning about how this week early on Monday morning, we should get up before the boys (Phoebe will sleep in forever if we let her these days), have a cup of coffee on the back deck of the house and congratulate ourselves at a week away from work. I'm looking forward to busy days playing with the kids in the sand of the beach, nice walks with the stroller and hubby in the evenings, and putting the boys in bed at their usual 7 PM time hanging with Phoebe, our friends that we're sharing the house with, a hot tub and a cocktail in our hands.

I have some recent pics to download and post of the boys in our friends' pool. They really do love playing in the water while they float about. I'll find time to post them soon. The garden is also doing amazing this year. We've finally gotten our first tomatoes, have been enjoying the lettuce, zucchini for awhile, and the sugar snap peas are done until the fall again. I'm about to eat my dinner late tonight. I'm having an individual pizza with fresh tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, fresh basil and olives. Yum!

The Changes in Liam

I keep saying how different Liam is and it is so true! Here are some photos to illustrate Liam on the move other than his one armed commando crawl that I used to call the Quasimodo crawl (he really looked weird the way he commando crawled). Today he's going to have his first physical therapy appointment in three weeks. I can't be here as I took time yesterday to be at his first occupational therapy appointment ever, which I think we all agreed we'll have one more and if he's still doing well we can drop those. Niki will have the fun of showing Ruth all the cool things Liam can do now. I did talk to her on the phone earlier this week and she is incredulous that he's doing so much now. I wish I could see the look on her face when she sees what Liam can do now.

Here's Liam with something his brother wants. Sometimes Liam will let Tommy take stuff from him and he doesn't care. When he does care, he just stays on the move and Tommy follows him.

Here's Liam popping up to sit (a new skill in the last three weeks) and Tommy trying to take the opportunity to take the camera lens cap from him.

Here's a little cameo appearance of Tommy's full face when he's not trying to find trouble of his own.

Here's a new common view in our house. Two boys on the move, crawling through the house. Liam just started crawling on his hands and knees in the last week or two. Now he doesn't drop to commando crawl very often at all.

Here's standing Liam! Next to his sister's very long leg. Wow! I didn't realize her bottom of her leg is about as big as her brother.

Here's a cute little pic of Liam's face with chocolate on his lips if you look close enough.

Here's one last photo of Liam kneeling in front of a table toy. If you have any idea how hard it used to be to get him to kneel in front of a toy, you'd know how huge this is!

Congratulations, little Liam! You've come a long way, baby! I mean toddler!

Mmmm! Watermelon!

I need to take some pics of both boys standing and cruising as well as Liam crawling on hands and knees. I can't believe how far they've come. Here's a pic of them eating watermelon on the 4th of July. Enjoy!

Looking Forward to Dinner

We've been having some really hot weather around here lately and it's created havoc with my menu planning. I could eat salad 24/7, but the boys can't live on rabbit food alone, so I bought a new cookbook, Giada at Home and I'm loving it! Tonite we're going to have "Pasta Ponza" on page 85. The boys love pasta dishes, so hopefully everyone will be happy. We'll also be having a big salad to make Mommy happy.

I especially do need something to make me happy as we all drove DH to the airport last night. He's in Dallas, TX first and then Los Angeles, CA and I'll be picking him up from the airport on Thursday evening. I hate it when he's out of town. I don't sleep well and things are more hectic because he really does pull his weight around the house, straightening things up, asking if I need any help, reminding me of things I haven't added to our to-do list yet and getting Phoebe to activities. Of course I also just miss having him around.

I'll be posting some pics of the boys tonight. I just need to get around to cleaning out the pics on the digital cameras. I make cameras plural as Phoebe has one as well as our main one.

One of Three Back

We spend a wonderful weekend with the kids in New Jersey. It was wonderful playing with my babies again and having Phoebe sit all over my lap with her wet bony butt (it hurts after awhile!). Her butt was wet as there was a pool at our disposal, which was fantastic, as the East Coast of the US is going through a horrible heat wave. It should be over 100 degrees Farenheit today. Ugh! We spent lots of time in the pool, which the babies and Phoebe love. The boys are on their way to being fishy kids like their big sister. I wouldn't be surprised if Phoebe ended up on the swim team in high school. The hard part was we weren't at our house, which makes it difficult to figure out where to put the boys to play when there are tons of people around, which was only on the 4th itself. The other days, we could put up barriers on the deck and let them play there.

Liam is catching up to his big brother in the physical skills. He's pulling himself up to stand and can do everything Tommy can do, except he's not as good at sitting himself down as Tommy is, but he's been standing for a few weeks now. I'm so proud of Liam. In the past month, he's learned to hold his own sippy cup, push himself to sit and pull himself to stand. He can crawl on his hands and knees, but he still prefers to commando crawl as he can go faster that way still. I can't even see calling him Keebler anymore as he's losing his elf appearance and looking more like a little boy. I love it!

We'll be picking the boys and Niki up tomorrow night (Wednesday night), as Niki has a doctor appointment on Wednesday, so her and the boys stayed behind still in New Jersey. Phoebe came back with us last night and she started her theater summer camp this morning. She was so nervous! I find it funny how well I know her. She wouldn't eat anything for breakfast, so we packed her a lot of healthy snacks with her lunch in case she got hungry during a morning break and wanted to eat then. She can never eat when she's nervous about something. Thankfully, it doesn't happen very often, because she's already such a skinny girl. But we didn't push the food at breakfast and packed some extra snacks of blueberries and a cheese stick to go with her ham and cheese sandwich (hoagie-style with olive oil, oregano and lettuce) and a bag of pirate booty snacks. She was still really quiet when we went there and were meeting some people. I'm becoming a magnet for twins as I started talking to one of the teenage volunteers and who comes up but her identical twin sister! They were so funny finishing each other sentances and saying words at the same time, but then saying they can't share a room as their personalities are so different they never agree on anything.

Wow! This became a long update, but I've missed our children so much. I've kept busy with work and exercising (more on that later). I'll have some updated pics of the boys to post. I have one of them eating watermelon on the 4th of July. It'll be so nice to have everyone home on Wednesday night and sleeping in their own beds where they belong. I don't know if I could have them go away for this long again, but I know it was really good for them. Phoebe even got to go to a Boy Scout camp for a week (just day camp) and she passed the Swimmer's Test, learned to shoot a pellet gun and got a bullseye and had an overall great time. She also got her ears pierced a second time. Our neice that manages a Claire's did it for her. It looks fabulous! Little purple studs and her first ear piercing has little flip flop earrings in too that are new. It's really cute! I'll have to ask if I can take her pic.
