PG - 18 Weeks 5 Days - Working from Home

I'm working from home today again, but this time it's because Phoebe's school is closed for a Teacher's Inservice. She's so happy to have an extra day off school. It's so cute to see how young the love of a weekend and long weekends starts. I just took a break from work to eat 2nd breakfast. I've already done two conference calls this morning and was starting to get hungry. I'm still a little congested from the cold, but I'm also getting to that point where the cough gets bad. I had when colds get like that. Hopefully lots of tea (herbal of course!) with lemon and honey will help the cough go away.

And I don't mean to complain, but I have to admit my size is definitely increasing faster than when I was pregnant with Phoebe. I'm almost 19 weeks, but I feel like I'm currently about as big as I was with Phoebe when I was 6-7 months pregnant. The second trimester with twins is definitely not a comfortable time. By the end of the day, I feel like my belly is so heavy. I know at the ultrasound this week they estimated the babies each at 9 oz, but by the end of the day, it feels like they are much bigger than that. I'm nervous about how I'm going to get around as I get bigger. But I'm really excited about getting to the end. Not for it to be over, but for them to be here already.

PG - 18 Weeks 3 Days - Still Sick

This cold is still kicking my butt. I was out sick from work both Monday and Tuesday. Today I'm working from home as I still feel horrible, but well enough to finally start looking at emails and call into some meetings. Leo left for NYC very early this morning. Work has been keeping him very busy. I feel that even though we've both been here, we really haven't seen each other. At least the babies have been OK. I can feel them moving. I can't wait until they are strong enough that Leo and Phoebe can feel them from the outside. I just can't wait for this cold to get better so I can get caught up on work and house stuff. I'm feeling so behind.

PG - 18 Weeks 1 Day - Ultrasound Update

We had a great ultrasound today! Both babies are measuring exactly the same estimated weight of 9 oz right now, so there doesn't seem to be any issue of one of the babies growing more than the other. They both had all their parts and everything measured nicely. Hearts were beating nicely - one at 150 and the other at 141. Oh and there was an additional part to both of them. We have two boys. I'll admit we were hoping for one of each, but this is great too. We were worried if Phoebe would be disappointed as she did want a sister, but when we told her this afternoon, she was very happy as she said brothers like to wrestle around like she does. As I also told Leo, Phoebe gets to retain her title of the sole Princess of the house.

I'm still fighting off this cold, so I didn't go back to work this afternoon and I did take a nap this afternoon. I still don't feel much better. I hope I feel better tomorrow. The good news is that I haven't had any fever of any kind, but my ears are all crackly and my sinus are all clogged. I don't think I've been able to breathe through my nose in two days now. So I'll go back to drinking lots of fluids and getting some rest.

PG - 17 Weeks 5 Days

Busy, busy, busy! Things are still really busy both work and home-wise and I'm coming down with a slight cold. At work, I'm hoping to spend some time planning today, which is desparately needed. Between meetings and that I'm ready to setup a deli number system at my cube for the stop-by questions, I've been too busy to look at the big picture of planning our work for the year.

Home-wise - Phoebe's had her activities all week. She passed the ISI Gamma Level test at her ice skating class on Wednesday, so now she'll officially be at the Delta Level. This is good, because her private lessons on Thursdays with her coach have been focusing on her first competition program, which is based around Delta Level skills. The competition is April 4th and 5th, and Phoebe is starting to be OK with doing this. She loves to learn her ice skating skills, but she's nervous about performing. We're explaining to her that everyone else that will be there will be paying more attention to getting ready for their own child's performance. These are not the top-level competitions, so no one will be watching the competitors with bated breath for the fancy jumps and stuff. Phoebe's program doesn't even have any jumps in it. She is starting some beginning jumps which would be the waltz jump.

Enough on the ice skating Mom info, the other big thing this weekend is the Sunday afternoon First Penance retreat Phoebe and I will be at from noon to 4 PM. She doesn't have First Penance until the 28th, but this is the afternoon-long retreat to go over everything you need to know about saying confession, which is something I haven't done in 14 years, LOL. Ah, the joys of being Catholic! Her First Communion is the Sunday before Mother's Day.

Babies-wise - I have my 18 week ultrasound on Monday!!!! Two hours of ultrasound will hopefully be enough for me to find out what I want to know, which is what are we having!!! I really can't wait.

I've also been fighting off a cold for the past two days. I'm doing OK though. It's just a sore throat and a slightly stuffy nose. No fever or aches. I've been drinking lots of fluids and I went to bed early last night, so I'm not feeling any worse than I was yesterday. I'm hoping tomorrow I'll feel even better. Tomorrow night we have a sitter and are going out to dinner with friends, so I'm really looking forward to that!

PG - 17 Weeks 1 Day - Meme Galore

Hi all! I'm going to try to get better and post every day. I genuinely have something I could post every day, but getting the energy to do it is another matter. With all the stuff going on at work and trying to get stuff done at home, I'm so busy!!!

Anyway, my online friend Martha at A Sense of Humor is Essential (is that a great name for a blog or what?) has given me several memes at one shot. I'm up to the challenge today to tackle these. I'm going to be boring and not tag anyone to keep these going. I'll use my pregnancy as a cop out, LOL.

First the picture - 6th folder, 6th picture. Here's what I found:

This picture is from February 2008 when we went to Disney. On the flight back, the airline staff did the cool thing of letting Phoebe into the cockpit to meet the pilot and sit in the co-pilot's seat. How cool was that???!!! I didn't think they did that stuff anymore since all the issues with airport security. That said, I don't mind posting this as I have no idea what kind of plane we were flying on so a picture that may show what it looks like in the cockpit should be meaningless.

On to the next meme/award. The Honest Scrap Award

I'm supposed to list 10 honest things about myself:

1. I developed a stuttering problem when I was in fourth grade and went through a few years of speech therapy in school. Now when I talk, some people think I am acting because it sounds like I'm thinking very hard about what I'm saying. Truth is I have to, so I don't fall all over my words.

2. I have really good night vision.

3. My daughter got her name from the TV show Charmed. It's Alyssa Milano's character.

Four. I've given my DH the moniker Leo here on my blog as he was one of the male characters on the show and because it's his zodiac sign.

5. The four key on my laptop is still broken when I trusted Leo to take Phoebe and my laptop to one of his work locations (other than the study in our house). Phoebe spilled her drink that he let her have on the desk and it messed up the laptop. Everything came back but the four key.

6. I'm a total geek. I have a BS in electrical engineering. I loved school growing up and I adore math and science.

7. I still love to play with Legos. I used to love babysitting for kids that had Legos when I grew up so I could play with them. Phoebe won an award with her team in a Junior Lego League competition last year. I've passed on the love to her. We went to the huge Lego store at the King of Prussia mall and they had a wall of bins of spare parts for your Lego collection. I told her I think this was probably in one of my dreams growing up to see something like this.

8. I love to clean my house. I feel like everything is under control when the cleaning is done and I love control!!!

9. I love to cook, but I'm not as good at it as Leo. He makes the most amazing food. It's one of the reasons I married him. And he's been cooking for me a lot since I got pregnant. I love him and his food!!!!

10. I'm getting stumped on what to write for this last one. Ooooh! I'll go with I was not popular in high school and I found out during my last year that I had a horrible reputation. Funny thing is I never "went all the way" with anyone until college. All the guys I dated in high school said I did though.

The last meme/award is the Lemonade Stand Award

I'm supposed to list 10 quirks (or guilty pleasures) about me. That's pretty easy, I'm full of quirks and guilty pleasures.

1. I don't like odd numbers. The only one I'm OK with is three. I like everyone in our house being born on an even numbered day.

2. I love watching Gossip Girl. I'm so disappointed it's been a rerun for the past two weeks. Chuck Bass is yummy!

3. I also seem to love other TV shows that the target audience is teenagers: Smallville and Charmed in particular.

Four. I don't like sitting with my back to a door. I even do it unconsciously by now. This is true for anywhere: conference rooms, rooms in our house, restaurants, etc.

5. I love vampire stories/movies/etc - I've been reading the Sookie Stackhouse books. I watched the first season of TrueBlood. I read all the Twilight books in two weeks and love the first movie. I'm planning on going to a premiere party for the second movie. I love Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles.

6. I love Jane Austen books especially Pride and Predjudice. Read it pretty much once a year.

7. I love all things Bridget Jones. The books, the movies, the fan fiction.

8. I'm self-conscious about the scar above my left eye from the car accident I had with the deer running into the side of my car two years ago. I notice it and usually wear my part on the opposite side of my head in order to hide that part of my forehead with my hair. I still can't feel part of my head from the nerve damage too.

9. I love writing lists and crossing the tasks off as I go along. Very satisfying.

10. I'm an extrovert according to the Myers-Briggs classifications, but even with that I'm a borderline introvert. I work with people all day and sometimes my social life suffers because I'm so tired mentally from the human interaction I've already had all day.

Well I have to run. This took me a long time to do and I have to run my daughter to activities now.

PG - 16 Weeks 3 Days

Didn't mean to get some people excited thinking I'd be able to find out yesterday what the sex were of the babies we're having. We won't know until at least 2/23 when I have the 18-week Level II ultrasound. My OB doesn't do my ultrasounds, since I'm labeled "high-risk" with twins. I have my regular appointments with her and then I have appointments with MFM (Maternal Fetal Medicine) at the hospital, which is the building next to my OB's office.

I had my regular OB appointment for my 4 month checkup yesterday and everything looks great. She did have me in a room with an old ultrasound machine (gosh, I'm spoiled!) to check the heartbeats of the babies. She said they do that in the beginning with twins to make sure they are seeing both heartbeats. She didn't tell us heartrate or anything. I don't think she calculated it. So all is well with the babies. They were head-to-head during her quick scan. She said they were already conspiring with each other!

Cute story - I was helping my friend explain to her 2 1/2 year old daughter that I have two babies in my belly (and she can see in the dress I was wearing that my belly was a lot bigger). She looked down at her "milk gut" as I like to call it, and said "I have two babies in my belly too!" We gave up trying to explain. We figured when I get a lot bigger she might realize something is up, or when they are out and we have our hands full, she'll really get it. But I loved how she compared her belly to mine and made that statement. So cute!

PG - 16 Weeks 1 Days - Nesting Weekend

We had a great productive weekend at home. Leo, Phoebe and I all focused on cleaning on Saturday. It took about 3 hours, but it really needed it. I haven't tried to clean since my scare in the beginning of January. I've done a little here and there, but I really love a clean house. I then turned my attention to fully getting caught up on laundry. I think there were about 6 - 8 loads of laundry that needed to be done. The last one was finished after church on Sunday. We relaxed a lot on Sunday, getting caught up on some TV that we recorded. We recorded the miniseries, The Last Templar, that was on the other week. It was really good. Leo made a pot of Chicken Tortilla Soup that was so yummy!!!! Sunday evening, I started tackling Phoebe's playroom as she had friends over all day and I wanted to let them have fun without me hanging around. I'd say about 75% of Phoebe's playroom is now in her bedroom closet in organized bins. I'm hoping to finish it during evenings this week. So all in all, I think nesting is in perfect bloom right now. Which is good for now, since later I know I'll have a harder time moving around.

And on a baby update - tomorrow I have my four month checkup at the OB office tomorrow (Tuesday) morning and my next ultrasounds is on 2/23, when hopefully we'll find out what we are having, so we can get lots of preparations done ahead of time.

PG - 15 Weeks 4 Days - Busy with Work

Sorry I haven't been around much lately. I've been so swamped with work it's taken over my life. I think I've mentioned it before that my team at work has gone from managing two people to managing five, which started in the first week of January. My team also has a huge amount of work for this year to do. It's really good though, as it's a great opportunity for me, but as Leo travels for business sometimes lately, it's been rough. I could really use a little more time at the office or online with work until I get over this hump. Considering part of what I'm trying to preparing for is to have everyone up to speed by the end of March in case I end up on bedrest, I know this extra time at work is a short-time thing.

Other than that, things are going well. I wasn't feeling the babies that much for the past week, but I think it was because they were moving up. Today they were very active and I could feel them, but it was higher on my stomach than down lower. I've also been craving carbs big time. I'm ready to nickname these babies Pasta and Bagel.

I haven't even had a lot of time to catch up with everyone's blogs. I'll go see if I can make some time for that now.
