So Much To Say!

We had a great Christmas and a very peaceful New Year's.  Hope everyone did the same!  We also became a great aunt and uncle on January 6.  It's our oldest niece's baby and her name is Nora Grace.  We've also all been getting over colds.  About three weeks ago, both Tom and I came down with something very flu-like, if not the flu exactly.  I'm still getting over the congestion and cough that is lingering.  The boys had it a few days before us, and they recovered much faster than we did, LOL.  At least the fact they had the same cold and got through it without antibiotics told me it was definitely a virus of some kind.

Other than that, Phoebe has had winter cheerleading and having some indoor field hockey practices with the high school team.  The boys are busy with Kindergarten, learning their sight words and enjoying their swimming classes at the YMCA.

I need to get back to training!  This year, we have the Spartan Sprint in July and the Philly Rock n' Roll half marathon in September.  I need to order a new pair of sneakers as the current ones I have are old and giving me shin splints when I run.  I do have a word for this year!  It is STRONG.  Unfortunately, I haven't felt too strong so far the beginning of this year, but I've been getting through all our colds and still not being too far behind.

What I'm also looking forward to is having fun this year!  Through all this craziness, we've been having some fun!  Even with the boys homework, I try to make it fun and tell them how much I look forward to spending that time with them.  It may snow tonight.  We haven't had much snow this winter.  We've had a lot of threats of snow with misses that haven't missed the New England area, as they are buried.  Tonight they are calling for 3-5 inches, so hopefully we will have snow and then can enjoy a day off school and work, play in the snow and make the first snowman of this winter!

I also love doing school stuff with them :)

This sight words business kills me - are we teaching reading without sounding out these days?....

Go snow..... enjoy the day with your kids, Heather!

Bouncing Back From Depression

I've been pretty depressed lately. Monday I hit my all time low, which coincidentally was also my dad's birthday. Needless to say I'm sure I'm on his not favorite child list as I forgot to call him I was so depressed. This whole two mortgage thing with no contract in site is really frustrating. Especially when lots of other houses on our block are selling. Our house is really very lovely, just no pool. It has a really flat backyard perfect for putting a pool in though. Anyway, on Monday, Mom called to make sure I didn't forget to call Dad and tell me she read my blog over the weekend and sent me an email about it. Sorry, Mom, I still have yet to check my emails to see what you had to say. Mom told me I needed to bury a statue of St. Joseph in the yard to get it to sell quicker. Wish I knew that sooner. I was going to wait for her to mail me hers, but yesterday I got really mad at myself and wanted to do something to improve my situation, so I found the nea...

Bad Dreams Go Away Magic Spell

Wow! Two posts in one day!!! I just had to blog about this. Indigo Girl had posted about her daughter having bad dreams and looking for advice. I had to post what we do in our house to keep away bad dreams. I have to admit it was one of my most brilliant mommy moments as I pulled this one out of my a$$ when I came up with it. When Phoebe was about 3 or 4 years old, she started complaining about nightmares. I knew it was half true and half stalling for bedtime. She has always been very into witches, wizards and spells (heck she was named after the character on Charmed and my due date was Halloween), so I came up with a magic spell on the spot to keep away bad dreams. I figured all it had to do was rhyme. I will share it with you all and feel free to try it if you need it: Bad dreams, bad dreams go away In Phoebe's dreams she must play She should dream of ice cream and cake Until the morning when she wakes She loves it! She still asks for it sometimes if she's had a ni...

The Boys Are Here!!!

I'm trying to post this from the hospital Internet access, but I will be able to do this announcement better justice from home, but it is a very odd, but short birth story. They came so fast and furious there was nothing anyone could do. But the boys are in the NICU and doing well. They were born at 31 weeks 5 days gestation on 5/29/2009. I will post their names and information (no comments on names unless you like them, LOL): Baby A: Thomas Michael III born at 2:09 AM Weight - 3 lbs, 15 1/2 oz Length - 18 inches Baby B: Liam Jonathan born at 2:20 AM Weight - 4 lbs, 1.4 oz Length - 17 1/4 inches long Just a word on their health, Thomas's breathing is doing well and he did not need any help in that area so far. I had two steroid shots from when I was admitted until before they were born, so I think that helped. Liam was intubated and given surfactant when he arrived in the NICU and is now on CPAP, although he can't stand having the tubes in his nose. Both are under t...
