Update on Twins - 5 Weeks Old

Tommy and Liam are 5 weeks old today and there's a possibility Tommy may come home today. He's been managed with on demand feeding since Wednesday evening and they took the feeding tube out yesterday morning and didn't replace it. He nurses like a champ for his feedings and is taking bottles of breast milk when I'm not there. Both boys passed their car seat test yesterday. Liam was still tired for most of his feeds yesterday, so he never nursed when I was there, but he has been taking bottles well when I'm not there, so he is getting there. And Liam did nurse for one full feed on Wednesday. Tommy still has almost a full pound on Liam. Their current weights are as follows:

Tommy - 5 lbs 10 oz
Liam - 4 lbs 13 oz

And here's an updated pic of the two of them sleeping together which they absolutely love doing. They sleep much better when they are next to each other.

Those hats are ADORABLE!!! I'm so glad to see that they're getting big, and I will keep my fingers crossed for you that they are both home soon.

Thanks for the comment on my blog. It makes me feel a little better to hear the stories of people with wonky screening tests and fine results, in the end.

Those boys are SO adorable!!!! I'm so happy for you! That is so precious that they love to sleep together - do they make extra large cribs for multiples, I wonder?

What sweet little guys! So glad to hear that Tommy is home. That's a step in the right direction. Now for Liam to just grow, grow, grow!!!

The Boys Are Here!!!

I'm trying to post this from the hospital Internet access, but I will be able to do this announcement better justice from home, but it is a very odd, but short birth story. They came so fast and furious there was nothing anyone could do. But the boys are in the NICU and doing well. They were born at 31 weeks 5 days gestation on 5/29/2009. I will post their names and information (no comments on names unless you like them, LOL): Baby A: Thomas Michael III born at 2:09 AM Weight - 3 lbs, 15 1/2 oz Length - 18 inches Baby B: Liam Jonathan born at 2:20 AM Weight - 4 lbs, 1.4 oz Length - 17 1/4 inches long Just a word on their health, Thomas's breathing is doing well and he did not need any help in that area so far. I had two steroid shots from when I was admitted until before they were born, so I think that helped. IVF#2 - It Worked!!!!

OK all my Internet bloggy friends!!!! I'm pregnant with the best initial beta I've ever had!!! Could that mean multiples? We'll find out over the next week or two for sure. My initial beta was 660! I can't believe it! I'm so excited I want to cry. I was so nervous. I didn't want to test before I went there because of all the hcg boosts I had. And I was really starting to doubt if it would really work out or if I was going to have a major disappointment today. I go back on Thursday for a repeat beta and we'll see if we're doubling or better. Leo made a prediction last night of twins. I wonder if he's right. Of course we just want at least one healthy baby, but healthy boy/girl twins would be like winning the lottery. Of course we'll want to win the lottery to support them, but I'm like Scarlett O'Hara in that perspective - "I'll think about that tomorrow!"
