Weekend Progress and Tommy Has Teeth

The weekend is turning out great! It's wonderful to have Leo home. Yesterday morning we got all our tax papers together and got them over to the accountant. And it all happened with very little issues. Getting tax stuff together usually leaves me frustrated. We declare our home office as a deduction as Tom works from home. But this year we had a checklist and were able to pull everything together fairly quickly. Boring as it may seem, we also bought lots of batteries and replaced the dead ones in lots of the babies toys.

Today I have lots of stuff to do too, but I at least used the elliptical machine and did a 20 minute yoga podcast from They really are fabulous podcasts. I found them on iTunes and not from their website though. Soon I will get a shower and get to bills and our finances. I'll make a menu plan for the week and decide if I need anything from the grocery store tomorrow.

And huge news! Tommy has at least one bottom tooth cutting through!!! Poor kid! No wonder he's been sucking his thumb and wanting some comfort. Now if we could just fix his spitting up. Anyone have any advice on this one? Ever since he's been about 5 months old, he spits up a lot.... ALL THE TIME! You never know when it's going to come. It could come hours after he's eaten something. At their 6 month check the doctor said it was probably because he's the active one. But I really can't wait for the day I can hold him freely and not feel like I'm going to need to have a wardrobe change. If we weren't careful with him, we'd be changing ourselves and him 5 times a day. We already with being careful have to change him usually once a day. Has anyone experienced this and have any idea when it went away? I just want to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I'm not sure if it's reflux, but he's not diagnosed, because he's definitely thriving. Any advice anyone has is greatly appreciated.

Crazy Week, Crazy Weather

The weather this week has been crazy. We were supposed to get dumped on a lot of snow yesterday. The schools closed, I worked from home and we waited for the heavy snow to start. It didn't show up. We felt like fools for staying home, although I did get a lot of work done from home. It seems the snow is here now though, although we won't get as much as they had originally predicted. We were supposed to get 8 inches, but maybe we'll only get 3-5 inches. Leo is in White Plains, New York and they are getting a lot more snow than we are here, so he's going to try to make his way home. He takes two trains to get out there, so at least he doesn't have to try to drive in this. I hope Amtrak and the NY trains are running OK and he makes it home soon. He's been gone all week, so I miss him lots.

Leo was also sick with some kind of a stomach bug on Sunday. He didn't throw up, but he said his stomach was queasy and he had a fever. Unfortunately, he thought it was his usual acidic stomach and we didn't know he had a fever until that night. Him and Tommy were all over each other on Sunday and Tommy did get something from him but he never got a fever. Tommy usually has a lot of spitup, but on Wednesday it was a lot more and I actually felt his stomach heaving, like it does when you are throwing up. Tommy didn't get a fever, but yesterday Tommy woke up with a much drier diaper than usual and was not acting like himself. We let him sleep a lot and drink some juice as well as his formula. He didn't seem to throw up all though there was a lot of spitup still. His diapers were very wet again in the afternoon, so I didn't call the doctor. Today he's acting like his old crazy self again.

On top of all this, Phoebe had her annual physical and the boys had their monthly Synagis (RSV) shots on Monday. We all went in together. Niki went with me as Leo stomach was still feeling off. Everything went well and we found out March will be their last Synagis shot this RSV season. I scheduled their 9-month and 1-year checkups and they recommended I schedule their next appointment after the 1 year one (I don't know if it's 15 month or 18 month) when we come in for the 9-month check. Our pediatrician's schedule gets really full fast.

I've been in a bit of a funk this week. Very overwhelmed with all the work and home stuff that needs to get done. I'm trying to get back on the Flylady bandwagon and when I start to feel overwhelmed I'm trying to hear her tell me "Just take babysteps!" It's so true. I got lots done over the past few days, even though there is still so much more to do, it will all eventually get done. I need to also say that Marcia is also very inspiring and so is Indigo Girl. Marcia had a post reminding me to write my goals and what success means to me. Prioritizing my to do list has been much easier since writing down what success means to me. And Indigo Girl encourages me to get back to exercising, not that I've found the energy to do that yet. I do feel so much better when I exercise.

We had a great time last night! I let Phoebe stay up late to watch ladies' figure skating on the Olympics. It was on so late though, I started taping it and we fell asleep. We'll finish watching it today. I did get to watch the Korean skater that is so good. Very happy she did so well. Now if I could just get Phoebe interested in competing again in ice skating. She's doing so well, but doesn't want to compete and I don't want to push her.

Alright! Here I go to attack my day! Let's see what I can get done!

Tommy Crawling-Now with Video!

I think I finally did it! I used iMovie to cut the video down by about half and save as an .avi file. Enjoy!

Tommy Crawling

I'm trying to upload a video I have of Tommy crawling, but it must be too big. I'll have to try to get a shorter video of it today. He started on Saturday and it's so neat to watch. I'm realizing right now that Tommy is the only baby I've had that develops on the normal milestone order. I'm remembering now that Phoebe was like Liam. Not that interested in rolling, crawling and walking. She was more interested in the fine motor skills like Liam is. His pincher grasp is getting really good.

More Twin Pics!

During the days of the snow storm, I got lots of good pics of the boys, but didn't have the time to post them. One of the things I'm trying to do is take pics of the boys in my favorite outfits and pajamas. Especially their pajamas. There's something about the boys in their fleecy-footed goodness that makes me just want to cuddle them. Here's one of my favorites, the polar bear pjs. Even they get distracted by the faces and ears on their feet!

I also got some pics of the boys playing in the bouncers/exersaucers. Look how old Liam looks in this one!

And Tommy, always the happy toothless baby....

Yesterday was a pretty long day. It was the first day back to work after the snowstorm and the first day back to school for Phoebe. And then we got to spend the afternoon and evening at the ice skating rink. She's doing amazing. I need to try to video some of the things she can do. Her coach said yesterday if she performs next week (test week) like she did this week, she should pass Freestyle 2. I could tell that made her very happy and work all the harder when we got to the evening class. But we got home at 9:30 PM. Very very long day.

First Sled Ride!!!

Yesterday was a beautiful day to take the babies outside. The temp was warm, there was no wind at all, and the snow is still plentiful. We love to go sledding and we have one of the neighborhood water basins on our property, which makes for perfect conditions. I had to capture the boys first sledding with Daddy on video of course.

First was Tommy and his Daddy on the hill

Next was Liam and his Daddy on the hill

Then they all went down together

Of course Phoebe had fun sledding. Must include video of the big sis!

We then took some still photos. Here's Phoebe and her brothers sitting on the hill! I didn't notice until after uploading these photos that Liam was smiling.

Here's a close up of the boys.

We tired Liam out. You can see just how much we tired him out. I'm not sure how one can sleep sitting in snow, but he did!

First Video - Laughter!

I borrowed Phoebe's camera she got from her birthday back in October to see if I could take some good videos. I got the boys laughing! Although you can mostly hear Tommy's laugh as it's a big belly laugh and really really loud! You can also hear Phoebe in the background at the end.

House Snow Pic and The Boys

This snow is crazy! Here's a picture of our house, mailbox and driveway after this latest round of snow. I know they get snow like this in some areas of the US, but we usually don't and we're so not used to this!

Meanwhile, inside as we try to stay warm, I got some pics of the boys in my favorite outfits before they outgrow them. My SIL that watches them for us bought them and they are perfect! Liam's says "Mom's Little Monkey" which is awesome as that is what I call him. I swear when he starts moving he's going to be a climber Tommy's says "How I roll!" which is great for him, as that's what he loves to do. He rolls all over the room and can cover lots of ground just by rolling.

On the moving around baby update, Tommy is on the verge of crawling still and getting better every day. He's pushing himself forward with his toes, pulling himself with his arms, doing a full extension pushup with his arms, everything except getting his knees underneath him and moving. Liam still does not roll for us during the day when he is awake. Last night though he did roll twice in his crib when he was supposed to be falling asleep. Twice I had to go in and turn him over as he didn't want to be on his stomach. The second time I went, I picked him up, swayed him and I whispered to him how he could work on rolling tomorrow but not now, not when he should be sleeping. That seemed to do the trick and he fell asleep soon afterward. I wonder if he will try today during the day.

Last night for dinner we had whole wheat "make your own pizzas". It was awesome. I made my whole wheat pizza dough from my favorite vegetarian cookbook and split it into four balls so we could each have individual pizzas. Mine was the loaded one with zucchini, fresh tomatoes, roasted garlic and olives, along with the usual tomato sauce and shredded cheese. It was awesome! We all got to love the individual flavors of our pizzas. I'll have to do this more often.

Blizzard of 2010

We got hit with a one-two punch this weekend and then again on Tuesday night/Wednesday all day. Saturday we got about 20 inches of snow and then another 20 inches on Wednesday. Here's some pics from both days in the snow.

Leo and Phoebe Trying to Start the Cleanup on Saturday

Leo and Phoebe in the path they made to the front door on Saturday afternoon. We got 20 to 24 inches but the snow drifts made it higher in some areas.

Here's Phoebe and her friends from the neighborhood playing in the snow on Wednesday while it was still coming down strong. Phoebe is in the way right of the photo with the beige jacket, black snow pants and pink scarf.

My office has been closed yesterday and today as Delaware did declare a state of emergency. That's the only time my office closes, so I'm enjoying the time at home with just checking on work emails every now and then. Yesterday I couldn't connect to work at all, so that was a little nice.

The boys just finished lunch and we're going to take them out in the snow for a little before their afternoon nap. I'll try to get some nice pictures of them outside. I did get some nice pics of them inside this morning as they are wearing my favorite outfit. I wanted a pic of them in it before they outgrow them.

Getting Caught Up

We got snow last night, so Phoebe's school has a two hour delay. Because of that I'll work from home today so I can get her on the bus, which is great! I worked from home yesterday, and I'm getting caught up on so much with work and home. Leo would ordinarily be able to get her on the bus, but he's leaving right now to catch a train for work in NYC today.

When I work from home, I really do knuckle under and sit at my desk and get things done. Then that way, I can feel comfortable when I'm done a the end of the day to get home stuff done. Last night things I got done were paying bills and working our overall budget and making some food for the boys as the freezer was out of dinner meals. I made sweet potatoes with green beans. Tonight I'll make brown rice cereal with peas and corn. I like making the whole meal mixed together for them and freezing it in cubes that way all we have to do is heat up the cube in the microwave.

I'm also really excited as I ordered seeds from Burpee for starting our garden for this summer!!! I'm so excited with everything I ordered. I haven't ever started my garden from seeds, but I'm really psyched to try! I ordered tomatoes, zucchini, red bell peppers, strawberries (those are plants), lettuce, two different kinds of hot peppers, lots of herbs like basil, garlic chives, lavender, oregano, mint and parsely. Also some marigolds and vincas for some pretty flowers. We haven't had a garden since we moved to the new house four years ago. We used to have amazing gardens though. When we had an apartment our complex used to have a patio contest and we'd win every year! I especially figured we should work on a garden this year as we don't go much of anywhere, so we're definitely home to take care of the garden. Plus, we'll save money this summer on having our own food.

We've also ordered a freezer!!! We used to have a stand up freezer (not the chest kind) at the old house, but we gave it to Leo's brother so it was one less thing to move. I've missed it so. We have a freezer with our refrigerator, but when it comes to putting up freezer meals or buying frozen veggies and fruits for dinners and smoothies or even buying meats when they are on sale, we just run out of space. We're supposed to pick it up Saturday, but I think that's going to be derailed because of another snowstorm. And the one the weekend is supposed to be a big one.

I'm curious to see what kind of things I can get done today. Next big things are getting our tax papers ready for the accountant and planning the boys baptism. For the family that reads the blog, I did get the boys baptism scheduled. I have to make some phone calls to let people know. It's going to be March 7th during the noon mass at our church.
