Tommy Chipped a Tooth

Tommy fell on the ceramic tile floor in the kitchen while I was at work today.  Niki called me and I immediately made an appointment with the dentist for that afternoon.  I asked her to give him ibuprofen for any pain and let him have some applesauce for lunch in case is was bothering him.  He took a good nap before I took him to the dentist and he was what the dentist said was his best patient that day.  And he went to our dentist, not a pediatric dentist so that was a big feat for him.  He shook the dentist's hand, took a ride on the dentist chair, laid back in the chair and got everything checked out.  The dentist doesn't think there's much to be done, but keep an eye on it and make sure there's no sensitivity eating or drinking.  He doesn't seem to, as he ate and drank fine at dinner.  The dentist asked me to call on Monday morning and let him know how things are going.  He said if he did anything it would be to file it down a little and coat it with something if it was rough.  Apparently his daughter did the same thing when she was a toddler too.  So I think he's fine, he just gets to look like the bruiser he is until his baby teeth fall out. Thankfully, it's not that noticeable, even if he's smiling.

He's still adorable but that must have been such a fright.

My one friend texted me yesterday to say "sophia's got her first black eye". Apparently she ran into another girl at creche. these kids only turned 2 in November........

Aw, poor thing! Glad it's not too big a deal.

I have a friend whose little girl knocked OUT two teeth before she was two. She looks like she's been losing teeth for years!

Yikes! That must have been scary.

Well, boys will be boys. The chipped tooth is not fun, but at least it's not the permanent tooth. He seems to be handling it pretty well - it's definitely an achievement for kids to go to the normal dentist without any fuss, so kudos to him for that!

Oooh, how’s Tommy now? It’s good that the chopped tooth is a baby tooth. I had been in an accident once. When my sister and I were dancing in the bathroom, I stepped on the bowl and tried to jump. Only, I slipped and had my permanent front tooth hit the edge of the bowl. My mouth was bleeding, and both of us were crying. I thought I lost my tooth because there’s nothing there. When my mom and I went to the dentist, I had an x-ray and I was glad they found my tooth! It was back inside the gum, and it would eventually push out. The bad thing is that it cracked, and I can’t bite down on food with my front tooth. Anyway, I had to learn a lesson the difficult way (not the foolish dancing in the toilet… LOL) regarding cracked teeth. I should’ve gone to the doctor to have it fixed because it got infected. To end my story (sorry), I have my front tooth working 100% now. XD

Things like this can be inevitable sometimes. It’s a good thing that Tommy had his tooth chipped while he’s still young. It will surely be replaced soon! It’s a good thing that you brought him to the dentist right away to be checked on. At his young age, it should serve as a lesson for him to be more careful next time whenever he’s playing!

@Melisa: You are right. Children tend to be mischievous at times so they are really prone to getting themselves in situations like this. My five-year-old son got a chipped tooth when he fell down while playing with his cousins.

Bouncing Back From Depression

I've been pretty depressed lately. Monday I hit my all time low, which coincidentally was also my dad's birthday. Needless to say I'm sure I'm on his not favorite child list as I forgot to call him I was so depressed. This whole two mortgage thing with no contract in site is really frustrating. Especially when lots of other houses on our block are selling. Our house is really very lovely, just no pool. It has a really flat backyard perfect for putting a pool in though. Anyway, on Monday, Mom called to make sure I didn't forget to call Dad and tell me she read my blog over the weekend and sent me an email about it. Sorry, Mom, I still have yet to check my emails to see what you had to say. Mom told me I needed to bury a statue of St. Joseph in the yard to get it to sell quicker. Wish I knew that sooner. I was going to wait for her to mail me hers, but yesterday I got really mad at myself and wanted to do something to improve my situation, so I found the nea

Bad Dreams Go Away Magic Spell

Wow! Two posts in one day!!! I just had to blog about this. Indigo Girl had posted about her daughter having bad dreams and looking for advice. I had to post what we do in our house to keep away bad dreams. I have to admit it was one of my most brilliant mommy moments as I pulled this one out of my a$$ when I came up with it. When Phoebe was about 3 or 4 years old, she started complaining about nightmares. I knew it was half true and half stalling for bedtime. She has always been very into witches, wizards and spells (heck she was named after the character on Charmed and my due date was Halloween), so I came up with a magic spell on the spot to keep away bad dreams. I figured all it had to do was rhyme. I will share it with you all and feel free to try it if you need it: Bad dreams, bad dreams go away In Phoebe's dreams she must play She should dream of ice cream and cake Until the morning when she wakes She loves it! She still asks for it sometimes if she's had a ni

Here's Phoebe's 5th Grade School Picture.  I really like her in red or bright colors.  She's definitely becoming quite the little lady.
