Life in Fast Forward

We've been incredibly busy the past few weeks with the holidays and visiting family. We had a great Christmas and New Year. Couldn't have asked for anything better. We've also been off work since 19 Dec and go back tomorrow!!! I'm actually quite energized again for work. It's been a tough year there this year, but the changes I've made I know will be making this year much better.

In our time off, we've gotten to see lots of movies, which was fun! We saw "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe" in the theater with Phoebe. It was amazing. I've wanted to see something like this since I was a kid reading these stories. It was everything I could have hoped for and more. The special effects were incredible! The battle scenes! Peter riding a unicorn going into battle with the White Witch! And if anyone has seen it, doesn't Lucy look just like Drew Barrymore in "E.T"? Exactly how I always pictured her. I have to admit the beginning scenes made me think really hard about what the children in Europe during WWII went through. We don't hear anything about this in the USA, we've never had to endure midnight bomb raids. It must've been terrifying to children. I can't imagine trying to comfort Phoebe through something like that.

We also rented the new Willy Wonka and "Mr. & Mrs. Smith." I wasn't expecting to like the new Willy Wonka. We're big fans of the original here. Even Phoebe calls this one "Willy Wonka 2." She really wanted to rent it, so we did and watched as a family movie. I've never liked any of Tim Burton's movies, but this was really good. "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" was entertaining in the fact it had Angelina Jolie, whom I adore. The action and some of the dialogue was funny and good. I won't buy the video though.

Also, it looks like my friend K is pregnant. She's my closest friend and lives 5 minutes from our new house. I really congratulate K and her husband G. They've been working hard at this. They were starting to talk about going for testing. Believe it or not, I'm really glad they don't have to go there. I wouldn't wish that on anyone. She's still very cautious. She had two positive and one negative POAS and she's calling the doctor to see if they are in today. Let's all keep our fingers crossed for her!!!

The last bit of fantastic news is we're signing on the dotted line for the new house on 10 Feb!!! We don't have any offers on our current house, but we did have an unexpected visit on 31 Dec. We weren't expecting anyone to want to see the house on New Year's Eve. We were lounging around relaxing and got a call. Had to get out of the house quickly. The agent is asking if we want to reduce the price for the open house this weekend. We're thinking about it, but if we do we're taking our refigerator, dishwasher, washer & dryer, water treatment system, and master bedroom ceiling fan with us when we move. We'll replace the dishwasher and ceiling fan with standard items. Ours are quite upgraded. We'll see how it goes.

We also saw the Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe... We brought Kyra and I got a little nervous about bringing her during the battle scenes - a bit gory for a two year old.

Isn't time off work heavenly?

Bouncing Back From Depression

I've been pretty depressed lately. Monday I hit my all time low, which coincidentally was also my dad's birthday. Needless to say I'm sure I'm on his not favorite child list as I forgot to call him I was so depressed. This whole two mortgage thing with no contract in site is really frustrating. Especially when lots of other houses on our block are selling. Our house is really very lovely, just no pool. It has a really flat backyard perfect for putting a pool in though. Anyway, on Monday, Mom called to make sure I didn't forget to call Dad and tell me she read my blog over the weekend and sent me an email about it. Sorry, Mom, I still have yet to check my emails to see what you had to say. Mom told me I needed to bury a statue of St. Joseph in the yard to get it to sell quicker. Wish I knew that sooner. I was going to wait for her to mail me hers, but yesterday I got really mad at myself and wanted to do something to improve my situation, so I found the nea

Bad Dreams Go Away Magic Spell

Wow! Two posts in one day!!! I just had to blog about this. Indigo Girl had posted about her daughter having bad dreams and looking for advice. I had to post what we do in our house to keep away bad dreams. I have to admit it was one of my most brilliant mommy moments as I pulled this one out of my a$$ when I came up with it. When Phoebe was about 3 or 4 years old, she started complaining about nightmares. I knew it was half true and half stalling for bedtime. She has always been very into witches, wizards and spells (heck she was named after the character on Charmed and my due date was Halloween), so I came up with a magic spell on the spot to keep away bad dreams. I figured all it had to do was rhyme. I will share it with you all and feel free to try it if you need it: Bad dreams, bad dreams go away In Phoebe's dreams she must play She should dream of ice cream and cake Until the morning when she wakes She loves it! She still asks for it sometimes if she's had a ni

Phoebe's Fifth Grade School Picture

Here's Phoebe's 5th Grade School Picture.  I really like her in red or bright colors.  She's definitely becoming quite the little lady.
