My Favorite Podcasts Today

I really love to listen to podcasts on my ride to and from work, especially as I am so sick of pop music radio again.  I go into waves of hating the radio and I'm on one right now.  I feel like they play the same music over and over again.  For music, I'm a huge fan of Spotify and Pandora, as well as whatever Phoebe downloads when she gets an iTunes gift card, LOL.

Back to talking about podcasts...  I have more that I like than I can ever listen to in a week of commute time, so sometimes I also listen when I'm cleaning the house.  I'd also really like to spend more time with the Coffee Break French podcast, but that would require creating another 20 hours in the week!  Here are my current favorite podcasts:

The Chalene Show - One of the reasons I decided to become a Beachbody coach is that I already listen and follow a lot of Beachbody coaches and trainers.  Her shows are truly wonderful and the topics have been spot on, especially the ones on how to increase focus and find your power hour.

Find Your Tribe - I just started listening to this today.  It's another Chalene Johnson show.  This one is more about tips to build your business.

The Daily Boost - I used to be a paying Motivation to Move Member for the past year and a half.  Then this became free and moved to The Daily Boost podcast.  I really love Scott Smith and his plain spoken, common sense way of talking.  Hopefully, he'll bring back a show with his wife Joi.  She is super fabulous and has lots of knowledge on exercise and nutrition.

The Tim Ferris Show - He's the writer of the 4-Hour Work Week.  I haven't had a chance to listen to this in the past few weeks, but his interviews are usually really good.  I loved his Tony Robbins interview, which came in two parts.

NPR Marketplace - When I listen to the radio, I will listen to NPR for the news.  I don't get to listen to Marketplace anymore as it's radio time is 6:30 PM, when we're smack dab in the middle of dinner time, not driving home from work like I used to when we were pre-kid.  Sometimes in the morning, I'll listen to the prior evening's podcast of Marketplace and I feel like I'm not missing a thing.

America's Test Kitchen, Ted Radio Hour and The Mighty Mommy's Quick and Dirty Tips for Practical Parenting also all appeal to me, but I have less time to listen to them and pick and choose the specific podcast articles that appeal to me.

I also almost forgot a recent downloaded podcast I need to listen to, the Team Beachbody Coach podcast.  I'm looking forward to listening to that regularly as I look to grow this part of my business.

By the way, I listen to podcasts on my old iPod classic that has a ton of space (160GB) to put as much music and podcasts on it.  It works like a champ and I refuse to retire it because it works so well! I have an iPad and an iPhone 5, but I still can't let go of my ancient relic of an iPod!!!

I LOVE Chalene!!!
I have a little ipod nano chock-full of songs :) so I keep my iphone lean and mean. I listen and delete all the time but I've just realised I should download to the ipad too, especially those I listen to at home...

Bouncing Back From Depression

I've been pretty depressed lately. Monday I hit my all time low, which coincidentally was also my dad's birthday. Needless to say I'm sure I'm on his not favorite child list as I forgot to call him I was so depressed. This whole two mortgage thing with no contract in site is really frustrating. Especially when lots of other houses on our block are selling. Our house is really very lovely, just no pool. It has a really flat backyard perfect for putting a pool in though. Anyway, on Monday, Mom called to make sure I didn't forget to call Dad and tell me she read my blog over the weekend and sent me an email about it. Sorry, Mom, I still have yet to check my emails to see what you had to say. Mom told me I needed to bury a statue of St. Joseph in the yard to get it to sell quicker. Wish I knew that sooner. I was going to wait for her to mail me hers, but yesterday I got really mad at myself and wanted to do something to improve my situation, so I found the nea...

Bad Dreams Go Away Magic Spell

Wow! Two posts in one day!!! I just had to blog about this. Indigo Girl had posted about her daughter having bad dreams and looking for advice. I had to post what we do in our house to keep away bad dreams. I have to admit it was one of my most brilliant mommy moments as I pulled this one out of my a$$ when I came up with it. When Phoebe was about 3 or 4 years old, she started complaining about nightmares. I knew it was half true and half stalling for bedtime. She has always been very into witches, wizards and spells (heck she was named after the character on Charmed and my due date was Halloween), so I came up with a magic spell on the spot to keep away bad dreams. I figured all it had to do was rhyme. I will share it with you all and feel free to try it if you need it: Bad dreams, bad dreams go away In Phoebe's dreams she must play She should dream of ice cream and cake Until the morning when she wakes She loves it! She still asks for it sometimes if she's had a ni...

The Boys Are Here!!!

I'm trying to post this from the hospital Internet access, but I will be able to do this announcement better justice from home, but it is a very odd, but short birth story. They came so fast and furious there was nothing anyone could do. But the boys are in the NICU and doing well. They were born at 31 weeks 5 days gestation on 5/29/2009. I will post their names and information (no comments on names unless you like them, LOL): Baby A: Thomas Michael III born at 2:09 AM Weight - 3 lbs, 15 1/2 oz Length - 18 inches Baby B: Liam Jonathan born at 2:20 AM Weight - 4 lbs, 1.4 oz Length - 17 1/4 inches long Just a word on their health, Thomas's breathing is doing well and he did not need any help in that area so far. I had two steroid shots from when I was admitted until before they were born, so I think that helped. Liam was intubated and given surfactant when he arrived in the NICU and is now on CPAP, although he can't stand having the tubes in his nose. Both are under t...
