PG - 20 Weeks 1 Day - Vivid Dreams

As most pregnant women, I've been having very vivid dreams since early on. Funny thing is I've had very few dreams about babies. I don't think my brain can wrap itself around the fact that we will be bringing home two babies and not just one, so my brain isn't thinking much about babies yet. I only remember having two dreams about the babies. The first one was a direct result of the whole "octomom" thing. I dreamt I had to be knocked out for the delivery and when I came to, they told me I had 8 babies, I told them, "No. I was having two babies." They kept insisting that I had 8 babies in the NICU to go see. On the way to the NICU they changed their tune and said I had 4 babies (BTW, all even numbers! Even in my dreams I like even numbers!). I kept telling them, "No. I was having two babies." Then when I got to the NICU, they showed me my two boys and acted as if they never said there were any other babies. By the way, I didn't know we were having two boys yet from the ultrasound, so I dreamt we were having two boys before I really knew. The second baby dream I had I just remember dreaming that the babies were born on June 12th. It'll be interesting to see if that is the truth.

All my other vivid dreams have nothing whatsoever to do with the babies. They make it difficult for me to get a restful night sleep and then in the light of the day, like now, I can't remember for the life of me what I dreamt last night. Hmmm. I was almost at the end of this post, but I'm coming back to this paragraph, because I remember one of last night's dreams. I dreamt I was drying my hair and styling it. Except it wasn't my hair today. It was my "real" hair color (light brown with some natural blonde highlights) and it was short. Like to my chin short with layers. I didn't like it since it wasn't my hair I have today. Do you think I'm dreaming this as I know my life is going to change when we have these babies? I think that is possible.

Off topic, but interesting, I saw Heather Armstrong from dooce.com on the Today Show this morning. It was a really interesting segment on us "Mommy Bloggers" and other techology-savvy Moms. It made me want to commit to being a better blogger. Tomorrow I'm getting my hair color touched up and I'll try to get a picture of me with my belly to post. I do have older ones too, but I haven't even asked Leo if he downloaded them to the computer yet so I can post them. I'll work on that. I'm also "interviewing" two moms of twins that are in my department over the next few weeks to try to get some tips for when the boys come home. I know one of the ladies breastfed both of her boys for 10 months and she did work to get them on the same feeding schedule so that at night she didn't have to keep waking up twice as much for feedings. I promise to post these tips I get here, so other future twin moms can learn what I'm learning.

I don't remember if I've commented here before or not, but I have identical twin boys who just turned one last week. I'd be glad to pass on any tips you're looking for!
I actually found it to be better (if you can handle the lack of sleep!) to keep the boys on the same schedule during the day, but after the first couple of weeks (after 8 weeks in the NICU), to let them wake up individually at night. It seemed to get them each sleeping longer between feedings. There was a night or two of me having to get up every hour and a half or so, but in the long run it seemed worth it to me.
That is some crazy dreaming going on, Wow. I am happy you have some resources about raising twins, I'm in awe of mom w/multiples.
Woah! Breastfeeding 2 babies for 10 months. I am very impressed by her. I love your premonitory dreams... cool.

Yeah, my dreams were insane while I was pregnant and, like you, I had very few baby dreams--which is good I guess. :) I can't wait to see pictures!!!! :)

I haven't had many baby dreams either, but lots of off the wall ones! Of course I can never remember them now. Hopefully you'll get some great tips from moms of multiples. Let's see your belly pics!

Congrats on the twins!!!! That's great news. I had crazy dreams while I was pregnant - maybe it's all the hormones...

Bouncing Back From Depression

I've been pretty depressed lately. Monday I hit my all time low, which coincidentally was also my dad's birthday. Needless to say I'm sure I'm on his not favorite child list as I forgot to call him I was so depressed. This whole two mortgage thing with no contract in site is really frustrating. Especially when lots of other houses on our block are selling. Our house is really very lovely, just no pool. It has a really flat backyard perfect for putting a pool in though. Anyway, on Monday, Mom called to make sure I didn't forget to call Dad and tell me she read my blog over the weekend and sent me an email about it. Sorry, Mom, I still have yet to check my emails to see what you had to say. Mom told me I needed to bury a statue of St. Joseph in the yard to get it to sell quicker. Wish I knew that sooner. I was going to wait for her to mail me hers, but yesterday I got really mad at myself and wanted to do something to improve my situation, so I found the nea...

Bad Dreams Go Away Magic Spell

Wow! Two posts in one day!!! I just had to blog about this. Indigo Girl had posted about her daughter having bad dreams and looking for advice. I had to post what we do in our house to keep away bad dreams. I have to admit it was one of my most brilliant mommy moments as I pulled this one out of my a$$ when I came up with it. When Phoebe was about 3 or 4 years old, she started complaining about nightmares. I knew it was half true and half stalling for bedtime. She has always been very into witches, wizards and spells (heck she was named after the character on Charmed and my due date was Halloween), so I came up with a magic spell on the spot to keep away bad dreams. I figured all it had to do was rhyme. I will share it with you all and feel free to try it if you need it: Bad dreams, bad dreams go away In Phoebe's dreams she must play She should dream of ice cream and cake Until the morning when she wakes She loves it! She still asks for it sometimes if she's had a ni...

The Boys Are Here!!!

I'm trying to post this from the hospital Internet access, but I will be able to do this announcement better justice from home, but it is a very odd, but short birth story. They came so fast and furious there was nothing anyone could do. But the boys are in the NICU and doing well. They were born at 31 weeks 5 days gestation on 5/29/2009. I will post their names and information (no comments on names unless you like them, LOL): Baby A: Thomas Michael III born at 2:09 AM Weight - 3 lbs, 15 1/2 oz Length - 18 inches Baby B: Liam Jonathan born at 2:20 AM Weight - 4 lbs, 1.4 oz Length - 17 1/4 inches long Just a word on their health, Thomas's breathing is doing well and he did not need any help in that area so far. I had two steroid shots from when I was admitted until before they were born, so I think that helped. Liam was intubated and given surfactant when he arrived in the NICU and is now on CPAP, although he can't stand having the tubes in his nose. Both are under t...
