Tired, Wheatgrass Update, Yoga and Hummus, Oh My!

Wow! Was I ever tired when I wrote that last post! I definately knew I've written better posts, but I was so excited that I was able to make my own wheatgrass juice. They say it's supposed to be really good for you and fertility. It has a very interesting taste. The frozen stuff I was getting didn't taste like much, but when you freeze your own fresh wheatgrass it has a very distinctive taste. It's kind of sweet and kind of tastes like your drinking grass.

I was also really good to myself last night and went to my yoga class. I haven't been there in about two weeks. I left there feeling awesome, but when I got home I kind of got cranky. I had a really busy day at work and I wanted some quiet time. DH kept talking non-stop the minute I got home about weekend plans for the rest of August. I think he's making up for not having last summer off and making sure we get to do everything we want to do before the end of the summer. But it was driving me crazy and I was kind of cranky. Our phone was ringing off the hook last night and that didn't help either.

What I did get to do that made me really happy (other than having 2 oz of wheatgrass juice this morning) was I made some excellent Roasted Red Pepper Hummus. 28 Cooks definately knows her hummus. I highly recommend this recipe. It's the best hummus I've ever made. I'm enjoying it right now on some tortilla chips and later I'll have it with some baby carrots.

Oh, yum! I LOVE hummus. I'll have to give some of those recipes a try. I don't really cook, but I think I can manage to chop stuff up and mix it. :-)

Bouncing Back From Depression

I've been pretty depressed lately. Monday I hit my all time low, which coincidentally was also my dad's birthday. Needless to say I'm sure I'm on his not favorite child list as I forgot to call him I was so depressed. This whole two mortgage thing with no contract in site is really frustrating. Especially when lots of other houses on our block are selling. Our house is really very lovely, just no pool. It has a really flat backyard perfect for putting a pool in though. Anyway, on Monday, Mom called to make sure I didn't forget to call Dad and tell me she read my blog over the weekend and sent me an email about it. Sorry, Mom, I still have yet to check my emails to see what you had to say. Mom told me I needed to bury a statue of St. Joseph in the yard to get it to sell quicker. Wish I knew that sooner. I was going to wait for her to mail me hers, but yesterday I got really mad at myself and wanted to do something to improve my situation, so I found the nea...

Bad Dreams Go Away Magic Spell

Wow! Two posts in one day!!! I just had to blog about this. Indigo Girl had posted about her daughter having bad dreams and looking for advice. I had to post what we do in our house to keep away bad dreams. I have to admit it was one of my most brilliant mommy moments as I pulled this one out of my a$$ when I came up with it. When Phoebe was about 3 or 4 years old, she started complaining about nightmares. I knew it was half true and half stalling for bedtime. She has always been very into witches, wizards and spells (heck she was named after the character on Charmed and my due date was Halloween), so I came up with a magic spell on the spot to keep away bad dreams. I figured all it had to do was rhyme. I will share it with you all and feel free to try it if you need it: Bad dreams, bad dreams go away In Phoebe's dreams she must play She should dream of ice cream and cake Until the morning when she wakes She loves it! She still asks for it sometimes if she's had a ni...

The Boys Are Here!!!

I'm trying to post this from the hospital Internet access, but I will be able to do this announcement better justice from home, but it is a very odd, but short birth story. They came so fast and furious there was nothing anyone could do. But the boys are in the NICU and doing well. They were born at 31 weeks 5 days gestation on 5/29/2009. I will post their names and information (no comments on names unless you like them, LOL): Baby A: Thomas Michael III born at 2:09 AM Weight - 3 lbs, 15 1/2 oz Length - 18 inches Baby B: Liam Jonathan born at 2:20 AM Weight - 4 lbs, 1.4 oz Length - 17 1/4 inches long Just a word on their health, Thomas's breathing is doing well and he did not need any help in that area so far. I had two steroid shots from when I was admitted until before they were born, so I think that helped. Liam was intubated and given surfactant when he arrived in the NICU and is now on CPAP, although he can't stand having the tubes in his nose. Both are under t...
