Exercise

So I'm trying to find time to exercise. In particular, I'm trying to get my butt up in the morning to exercise first thing and to change my mindset to enjoy that. I have to admit it is nice to go through the day without that guilty feeling that I need to work out. Knowing that I've done it already and having that great feeling that I did something for myself that makes me feel good. I will admit exercise does make me feel good. Ever since having the boys, I have had problems with anxiety sometimes and that seems to completely go away when I've gotten all that extra energy out of my system. I've also had lower back issues ever since having Phoebe ten years ago and nothing helps it as much as ensuring I spend regular time on the elliptical machine and get some stretches in. It really is the combination of the two. I've tried just one or the other, but I have to do both to get my back into peak condition.

So I'm trying to tell myself to get 45 minutes on the elliptical machine we have in the basement at least 3 times a week and to do some yoga on a few evenings to stretch things out and get some good relaxation going. I was doing really well in the summer time, but then I fell off the wagon and now I'm trying to get back on again. I was able to do two times last week and I just got off the elliptical a few minutes ago, so I'm feeling pretty happy right now.

So tell me, do you try to find time for exercise? If so, what do you like to do?

After dislocating my knee in August, my main priority has been rehab. Now that it's getting better, I realize that if I hadn't been in shape, recovering from this injury would have been so much more difficult. At this point, I can go while the Crazies are in school or put them in the Kids Zone that they gym has. I have no idea how I'll do it when I go back to work. Kudos to you for whatever you fit in!

That's awesome! I too need to work out. It does make me feel so much better too! And it's good for us believe it or not! lol Good luck!

I honestly would love to work out, but I definitely need the buddy system! It's winter now and I cringe at having to go out and walk the dogs!

I have a treadmill and exercise bike (ellipticals make me motion sick - crazy, I know!) in the basement and I go through spurts. I was good earlier in the year - 5x a week for 45 minutes and then since the summer it stopped. I keep meaning to get back on the treadmill - one of these days!!

Good luck finding something that works for you!!! you look so nice and thin already, I'm sure a few weeks/months off won't hurt you a bit!

That's a good question. When I have that free hour during nap time, do I use it to exercise or have some time to myself? Monday of this week was my first day of no-gym week. I did followed a DVD (3 mile power walk w/weights)while LG napped. I'm starting slow...M-W-F and hoping to work up to everyday.

We have a treadmill and an elliptical. I usually do either of those or a workout video at some point during the day. I try to motivate myself to get up early but that doesn't always workout so sometimes I have to resort to naptime. I really like Jillian Michels 30 Day Shred and Leslie Sansone's Walk Slim dvds.

I do try to find the time, but it is so hard to put ourselves first. When I do, it's the treadmill in the basement..with the Young and the Restless on:)
I actually hate exercise but I love food so much that I'm forced to do it (will not start eating rabbit food just to be thin)

I definitely find it easier if I enjoy what I'm doing so dance class is for me and I also like "boot camp" type stuff - it brings out a healthy competitive Marcia :)

I can only go 2 X a week because of no babysitters and D also needs gym time but next year I'm thinking of adding a half hour at work 2 - 3 X per week. Let's see how that goes.

P.S> I've found over the years I'm not a solo exercise kind of person - I need that group dynamic to push me. Have I mentioned I'm ultra competitive? :)

P.P.S. My back's been acting up and I think it's from picking the kids up and doing no stretching EVER.

Bouncing Back From Depression

I've been pretty depressed lately. Monday I hit my all time low, which coincidentally was also my dad's birthday. Needless to say I'm sure I'm on his not favorite child list as I forgot to call him I was so depressed. This whole two mortgage thing with no contract in site is really frustrating. Especially when lots of other houses on our block are selling. Our house is really very lovely, just no pool. It has a really flat backyard perfect for putting a pool in though. Anyway, on Monday, Mom called to make sure I didn't forget to call Dad and tell me she read my blog over the weekend and sent me an email about it. Sorry, Mom, I still have yet to check my emails to see what you had to say. Mom told me I needed to bury a statue of St. Joseph in the yard to get it to sell quicker. Wish I knew that sooner. I was going to wait for her to mail me hers, but yesterday I got really mad at myself and wanted to do something to improve my situation, so I found the nea...

Bad Dreams Go Away Magic Spell

Wow! Two posts in one day!!! I just had to blog about this. Indigo Girl had posted about her daughter having bad dreams and looking for advice. I had to post what we do in our house to keep away bad dreams. I have to admit it was one of my most brilliant mommy moments as I pulled this one out of my a$$ when I came up with it. When Phoebe was about 3 or 4 years old, she started complaining about nightmares. I knew it was half true and half stalling for bedtime. She has always been very into witches, wizards and spells (heck she was named after the character on Charmed and my due date was Halloween), so I came up with a magic spell on the spot to keep away bad dreams. I figured all it had to do was rhyme. I will share it with you all and feel free to try it if you need it: Bad dreams, bad dreams go away In Phoebe's dreams she must play She should dream of ice cream and cake Until the morning when she wakes She loves it! She still asks for it sometimes if she's had a ni...

The Boys Are Here!!!

I'm trying to post this from the hospital Internet access, but I will be able to do this announcement better justice from home, but it is a very odd, but short birth story. They came so fast and furious there was nothing anyone could do. But the boys are in the NICU and doing well. They were born at 31 weeks 5 days gestation on 5/29/2009. I will post their names and information (no comments on names unless you like them, LOL): Baby A: Thomas Michael III born at 2:09 AM Weight - 3 lbs, 15 1/2 oz Length - 18 inches Baby B: Liam Jonathan born at 2:20 AM Weight - 4 lbs, 1.4 oz Length - 17 1/4 inches long Just a word on their health, Thomas's breathing is doing well and he did not need any help in that area so far. I had two steroid shots from when I was admitted until before they were born, so I think that helped. Liam was intubated and given surfactant when he arrived in the NICU and is now on CPAP, although he can't stand having the tubes in his nose. Both are under t...
