Infertility Support

I do feel good about being very open about my infertility struggles. Hopefully, it has helped people I've come in contact with. I do often feel that one meets certain people in life so that you can be "at the right place at the right time." I feel that happens to me a lot recently. Today I actually shared my blog URL with someone at work, which I never do (if she reads this, I don't mind - you seemed to really need that support today). I hope reading about what I went through, which is so similar to her situation, she will find hope that I found my happy ending. I know not everyone does, but I hope just knowing is a bit uplifting. I've also been talking with another woman at work who is currently doing IVF as well. She says all the talks we've had over the years have helped her come to this current place and she seems really secure with her decisions she's discussed with me. She does currently have two older children, 14 and 10 years old, but for years has wanted to try for another. I can also name two other people at work that have come to me for advice on their situation. One has a baby girl now, the other I'm not sure. I don't like to ask and feel if they have good news, they'll share it willingly.

The funny thing is my RE had approached me about him wanting to start a support group for women going through IF in his practice. I told him I'd be more than happy to participate and gave them my personal contact info. I'm not sure if it never materialized, but the funny thing is I guess I've been doing it on my own, because all but one of the people I mention were patients of his at the time, LOL.

I try to be open about my situation because when I was in the thick of things, I felt so alone. It was the support of my fellow IF bloggers and writers such as Julia Indichova and Randine Lewis that support my belief that we would have more children, even as my age was continuing to increase and knowing that even from the age of 23 when I got married, I've never had an "oops" pregnancy. Calliope on Creating Motherhood recently wrote about a driver she had to the airport talking about being a positive ripple in the world and believing that if he is positive and nice the next person would also want to do the same. I hope I'm being that positive ripple in the world.

I love the image of the positive ripple in the world.

That's what I want to be too.

I also think it's so cool that unknowingly you've been doing your own infertility support :)

Next week I'm going to start talking with my coach about doing more of those talks. Maybe you can do the same with your RE giving out your details?

The Boys Are Here!!!

I'm trying to post this from the hospital Internet access, but I will be able to do this announcement better justice from home, but it is a very odd, but short birth story. They came so fast and furious there was nothing anyone could do. But the boys are in the NICU and doing well. They were born at 31 weeks 5 days gestation on 5/29/2009. I will post their names and information (no comments on names unless you like them, LOL): Baby A: Thomas Michael III born at 2:09 AM Weight - 3 lbs, 15 1/2 oz Length - 18 inches Baby B: Liam Jonathan born at 2:20 AM Weight - 4 lbs, 1.4 oz Length - 17 1/4 inches long Just a word on their health, Thomas's breathing is doing well and he did not need any help in that area so far. I had two steroid shots from when I was admitted until before they were born, so I think that helped. Liam was intubated and given surfactant when he arrived in the NICU and is now on CPAP, although he can't stand having the tubes in his nose. Both are under t...

Here's Phoebe's 5th Grade School Picture.  I really like her in red or bright colors.  She's definitely becoming quite the little lady.

IVF#2 - It Worked!!!!

OK all my Internet bloggy friends!!!! I'm pregnant with the best initial beta I've ever had!!! Could that mean multiples? We'll find out over the next week or two for sure. My initial beta was 660! I can't believe it! I'm so excited I want to cry. I was so nervous. I didn't want to test before I went there because of all the hcg boosts I had. And I was really starting to doubt if it would really work out or if I was going to have a major disappointment today. I go back on Thursday for a repeat beta and we'll see if we're doubling or better. Leo made a prediction last night of twins. I wonder if he's right. Of course we just want at least one healthy baby, but healthy boy/girl twins would be like winning the lottery. Of course we'll want to win the lottery to support them, but I'm like Scarlett O'Hara in that perspective - "I'll think about that tomorrow!"
